I am not sure if I like the fact that this drawing is pen, i think it should have been in pencil....

I am going to be studying for the GRE and writing some admissions essays later today, so thats probably all the creating for today.

My grandma and I did a project!
We went shopping today in Phoenix based on the recommendations of the
phoenix city guide on
design sponge. I checked out the
Red Modern Furniture showroom first, which had so much amazing furniture (but dont tell, I've found an inner city st louis warehouse where i've found some of the same furniture for tens of dollars rather than hundreds or thousands). Then we continued on to
Frances Vintage and its neighbor Smeeks, a novelty and coffee shop. So much fun! I scored some really cute journals from Frances and some Chick-O-Sticks from Smeeks. Then (!) I noticed that there were so many cool post card advertisements for businesses, venues and events, so I took some and made these so cute
mini-journals!

So long for now!

Its the first day of school in phoenix
My cousin is going to her first day of 3rd grade today. So is this bunny I drew this morning.
Catching up on posts...
Last weekend I visited my mom, who has a sewing machine! Since I am a college student and move around a lot, I can't have such luxuries as sewing machines or blenders or espresso machines. I was really interested in the idea of a tea cosy all last week, mostly because of the lovely cosy('s, ies?) by
Maxine Sutton (via
d*s). But I don't really think that I would ever use a tea cosy. However, I hate having to put my toaster away after using it, so how about a toaster cosy? After some crafty eyeballing, here are my toaster's new clothes.

I then decided to make some oven mitt type things....I drew on some white canvas material, backed it, etc and i think they turned out pretty cute! If I did them again, I think they would turn out better, but they aren't bad for a first try, following no directions.

Now taking orders for toaster clothes! Just kidding.
Sitting in Companion,
I am sitting in Companion, a really great place to buy bread and sandwiches (I really love their cornbread) and I am really inspired by all of the vintage items on the shelves. I love old phones, toasters and, well, really any vintage kitchen appliance. They always have such a personality of their own. Is it just me or do modern appliances seem to lack that individuality and life? I decided to draw a some of the items, and incorporate them into my new layout.
I also have been visiting a family of ducks in Forest Park lately. I feed them bread (such a no no! I should be ashamed...) and they follow me around. In fact, they practically sit in my lap!! I incorporated one of my drawings of them into the layout as well.
So look around, the new design is inspired by my sketches of summer.
